How to reduce Model Size and Keep Z Reasonable - Free ArtCAM Tutorial
How to reduce Model Size and Keep Z Reasonable PDF Print E-mail

In this brief tutorial, we will show you how you can resize a larger size model, and keep the Z height to an acceptable level so you don't lose all the details.

In this tutorial, we are using ArtCAM 2009 but pretty much any version should do the trick.

Let's start by creating a new project and import an existing model (or create a new one as the case might be)

Click on the Mesh Creator tool to create a mesh.

Once the mesh has been created click the Add To Project button to add to the Project.  Click OK

Click the Project tab, Make sure any open models from the Models tree are closed, and make the assembly visible. Select the mesh we just created  and click on the Scale button under Positioning panel.

Adjust the X, Y, Z proportions as desired, and click apply. Notice we are not scaling all axis at the same amount, keeping the Z axis a bit highter.

We can adjust the relief further to see the result.

By comparison you can see in the images below if the X,Y,Z were reduced proportionally you would end up with a lot less Z height resulting in less details.
